Role Overview
The Principal Planner serves as a senior technical and strategic leader responsible for directing high-profile planning projects, advising municipal executives, and guiding multidisciplinary teams.

Strategic Planning Leadership

Role Description
The Project Coordinator plays a critical operational role in supporting planning, mitigation, and advisory projects across the firm.
This position ensures projects stay on schedule, documentation is organized and compliant, meetings are effectively coordinated, and internal systems operate efficiently. The ideal candidate thrives in structured environments, is detail-oriented, and enjoys supporting multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
Project Administration & Tracking
Maintain project schedules, task trackers, and deliverable timelines
Monitor milestones and flag potential delays
Assist with budget tracking and invoice coordination
Support quality assurance and document control processes
Client & Meeting Coordination
Schedule and coordinate client meetings and stakeholder sessions
Prepare agendas, meeting summaries, and follow-up documentation
Maintain organized client communication records
Documentation & Compliance Support
Organize project files to ensure audit-ready documentation
Assist with formatting and compiling technical reports and planning documents
Support compliance documentation aligned with federal or state funding requirements
Proposal & Business Support
Assist with proposal formatting and administrative requirements
Maintain resumes, project sheets, and marketing materials

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Planning, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5 years of experience in project coordination, consulting support, or administrative management

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities
Public Realm & Site Design
Develop conceptual and schematic designs for parks, plazas, streetscapes, and civic spaces
Support corridor plans and small area plans with visualizations and site design concepts
Prepare illustrative plans, renderings, and graphics for client presentations
Resilient & Climate-Responsive Design
Integrate green infrastructure, stormwater management, and heat mitigation strategies into site designs
Support hazard mitigation and adaptation-focused landscape strategies
Align design recommendations with FEMA, state, and local resilience frameworks
Urban Design & District Strategy
Contribute to form-based planning efforts and overlay districts
Support redevelopment strategies through placemaking and public space activation
Ensure design recommendations are feasible within municipal regulatory environments
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Present design concepts to municipal staff, planning commissions, and elected officials
Support community engagement workshops and charrettes
Translate technical design solutions into accessible, community-centered narratives
Project Coordination
Collaborate with planners, engineers, and infrastructure specialists
Support cost estimation and phasing strategies

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture
5+ years of professional experience in public-sector or urban design projects

Strong graphic communication and visualization skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and related design software
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as a Registered Landscape Architect (RLA)
